NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ANNOUNCES A NEW PERMANENT RESIDENCE IMMIGRATION PROGRAM FOR SKILLED WORKERS

Newfoundland and Labrador have begun accepting applications through the new “Priority Skills” stream since January 02, 2021. This is a new program that targets highly educated and skilled newcomers with medical, technological or ocean sciences experience. This comes as a respite to employers who are facing difficulties in meeting a growing labor shortage in priority sectors.

Interested applicants are required to submit an Expression Of Interest in immigrating to Newfoundland and Labrador. The minimum eligibility requirements are as follows:

  1. The applicant must have at least one year of full time experience in one of the” in-demand occupations” within the last 10 years.
  2. Have scored at least CLB 5 in IELTS or CELPIP language tests within the last 12 months.
  3. Be at least 21 years of age.
  4. Intend to live in Newfoundland and Labrador

Applicants will be assessed based on their scores and interest from employers, and will then be invited to submit an application through the Provincial Nominee Program.

The Province’s minister of immigration, Gerry  Byrne said, “Newfoundland and Labrador, invests a great deal of time, effort and money to attract newcomers to our shores “. In spite of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Canada has time and again shown its focus on increasing the arrival of new immigrants and has subsequently announced a number of new programs.
